The Continent of Mercavur by Wyldsoul The Continent of Mercavur by Wyldsoul

I recently found some great tutorials for making beautiful fantasy maps, and thought I'd try my hand. Here's an aged map that's my first semi-polished attempt at an atlas-style map.

Here is where you can find the tutorials. This one follows in Ascension's Atlas Style for photoshop.

I love this. (It looks a lot like Tamriel...but there's only so much you can do with a map to stop it looking like some other map) Do more!

Thank you! I didn't see any maps for Tamriel until a while after I created this. I get into a zone and start making up stories about the language, culture, and even lives of the people who live in these places, even if its just for myself. I'm glad to know that other people appreciate my work!

Oh, yeah...that's the fun in a fantasy map. More than just about any other kind of image, you can start telling yourself all kinds of stories just from a glance. That's why I love 'em!

Thanks!

I've got a lot going on right now, but I do want to make some more! Non-art life likes to interfere a lot ;D

I think it looks very nice, but there's one little problem I see. To me it looks like the seas are higher than the lands, as if the dry land is sunken into a frozen, jello ocean. You could solve that by moving the edges of the continental shelf further out from the coast, I think.

Thanks for the comment. I can see what you mean, and I'll definately take that into consideration as I work on future maps. =)
